In today’s manufacturing world, much is made about certifications and accreditations, and rightfully so. When it comes to customers, their needs, and protecting those needs, having a universal language that everyone can use is a great asset to have. The International Organization for Standardization, or ISO, is a worldwide group that does just that. ISO develops and produces standards that companies across the globe use to prove to their customers that they have measures in place to make sure that their needs, as a customer, are met in an efficient fashion. What does this mean? Bottom line, a customer can have confidence in the company that holds these certifications.
What’s included in a certification?
Each individual standard is slightly different from each other. But the base upon which they are built upon. The pillars of the base often include:
- Contingency planning
- Continuous improvement
- Defect product prevention
- Management of suppliers
- Risk management
After implementation of a standard is in place, an independent, 3rd party auditor will complete an audit of the company to determine that all requirements are met and that measures that are in place are affective at achieving what they are aiming to complete.
Kaye & International Certifications
At Kaye, we have a commitment to quality and that commitment is verified by independent audits of our international certifications. When it comes to accreditations for a laboratory, ISO/IEC 17025 is an important accreditation to have. It shows that a lab has demonstrated that they can operate competently and generate valid results. Kaye’s laboratories in the United States, Germany, and China have achieved ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. This means that a customer can have confidence in the work of that lab, and we can provide services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, and many other business and manufacturing sectors all around the world.
Another recognizable certification is ISO 9001. There are different versions of ISO 9001, with ISO 9001:2015 being the newest version released. This certification can be obtained by any organization, regardless of type, size, product, or services that it provides. With ISO 9001, its goal is to guide an organization to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer standards, as well as applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. It also aims to enhance customer satisfaction through effective application of a quality management system. At Kaye, our quality management system is documented, supported, maintained, and continuously improved. All of these are required as part of ISO 9001:2015 certification process. Currently, our location in the United States holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for our quality management process.
