Reduction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS)
In 2003 the European Union enacted the Reduction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS). This legislation seeks to reduce the concentration of six substances from electrical and electronic equipment that falls within the directive scope. The proscribed substances are:
- Lead
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Hexavalent chromium
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
None of our products presently fall directly into the scope of the Directive. Our Sensors are not 'equipment' under the Directive and our Instruments, which are ‘equipment’, fall into category 9, which is presently excluded. That exclusion is unlikely to be revoked before 2012, though we review this matter continuously.
We recognize however, that some of our sensors will be used by our customers as parts in their systems where these systems need to be compliant. In order to provide the best service to this category of customer we are undertaking a large program to convert most of our sensors to compliance.
The table below will be regularly updated for product RoHS compliance status. Unless stated otherwise, all RoHS compliant parts are interchangeable with their non-compliant predecessors.
